Today's Reflection from Grace

In my mid-forties, I started to take an interest in a self-help writer from the mid-1800s through the early 1900s.

Through this self-directed reading program, I came across a book written by Florence Scovel Shinn: The Game of Life and How to Play It (copy 1925). In her 95 pages, Florence taught me words of wisdom. By repeating them frequently to myself, I learned how to trust the universe to deliver.

I used my affirmation cards frequently. When I moved from a large house to a smaller one that needed much interior work, I was working two jobs and needed help in painting, new trim work, pulling out the old carpets, and installing new floors throughout the house. I was worried that I would end up finding someone lacking the skill while charging an exorbitant rate. With my affirmation in hand—the right handyman is looking for me—I began my search.

One stood out to be perfect for the job. This individual was willing to do all the work at a fair price, had great references, was willing to advise and help me in my selection. So I hired my Jane-of-all-Trades. Her work was impeccable. All I could sum up was, "thank you, universe."
